I love buying new make up, although I’m still getting to grips with how to really apply it. I’ve always been interested in make up and how to properly use them, so YouTube tutorials are my best friend these days. I don’t have much money to splash on myself these days, having 3 children certainly takes that away from me, so I tend to buy a lot of drug store make up and dupes. Expensive make up just isn’t within my budget and I think I would much prefer to splash out on things for my children than for myself.
PS Contour Kit
I bought this gorgeous contour kit from Primark’s PS line. Primark do some gorgeous products and this is definitely one of them. Having just recently indulged in the world of contouring this is perfect for me. Although highlighter doesn’t really highlight and the blush is a bit too brown for me. The colour to contour with it perfect for my skin and it creates a lovely shadow.
The little palette is perfect for beginners and it was just half price at £2.00! What an absoloute bargain! There were 2 shades, dark and light. This was the lighter as I have quite fair skin.
PS Primer & Anti-Shine Balm
I’m also fairly new to primer, thanks YouTube, and I never really new what I needed it for until I tried it myself. So I found this one in Primark, also from their PS line. Most primers I had seen where in a tube but I thought this one was a bit different.
Stupidly, I used it before I took a photo of it. Although I didn’t think much of the sponge, the consistancey of the primer was a bit siliconey. It went on really nicely and found it applied better when I used my fingers. It’s something I would recommend and I like the fact that it is in this little container.
PS Velvet Matte Lipstick Crayon & PS Super Matte Liquid Lipstick
I also got these from Primark’s PS line. I love the lipstick crayon, it’s so smooth and easy to apply and it doesn’t feel scratchy or rough on my lips. The colour is gorgeous too. The matte liquid lipstick however, that is something else. Maybe it’s me. I just can’t use it. I can’t get my head around the matte. It’s a lovely colour and the consistency is really creamy and it’s easy to apply – if I could apply it.
Real Techniques Base Brushes
These were an absolute bargain! I got them half price for £11.99! I absolutely had to get them. I have been using my beauty blender and fingers until now. But no more! They are so lovely to apply make up and I’ve never used a brush as nice as these before. So it’s been lovely to actually have something that works for once.
Essence Strobing Highlighter
I am in love with this highlighter, it offers a subtle highlight which is perfect for my low coverage routine. I love the glow it gives my cheeks. It’s so pretty. The Essence brand have really made quite the impression on the scene. I have been a fan of their nail polishes for so long so I am dipping into their make up and I am yet to be disappointed.
MUA Matte Lipstick
This is a gorgeous lipstick, a really creamy texture and it just glides on my lips. This is much easier to apply than the liquid lipstick I brought from Primark. It’s a lot easier to work with and the colour is perfect.
So there we have it, my recent make up haul. Now you can all see what a cheap skate I am and maybe offer me some advice on how to apply liquid lipstick because I am seriously failing at that! Have you found any great drug store make up products?
