Get to Know Amy | 25 Questions About Me Tag

I was tagged by the ever lovely Amanda from A Life Flipped Upside Down to answer 25 questions about myself. Since this is still a fairly new blog I knew this would be a fun way for my readers to learn more about me and who I am. So if you want to get to know the blogger behind the blog, then please so do read on.

Get to know me. The blogger behind the blog in this 25 question tag.

Last person you called?

I last called my fiance, I needed him to pick me and the kids up.

What was your favourite subject at school?

Media studies, I loved learning about editing, films and recording videos. Although now I can’t watch anything without looking for each cut scene.

What is your favourite drink?

I love Irn Bru. I can’t get enough of the stuff but carbonated drinks are so bad, I try and limit myself.

Who is your male celebrity crush?

Cillian Murphy. My, oh, my. That man is gorgeous, especially when he plays in Peaky Blinders.

Favourite food?

I love pretty much most food, except cheese. That doesn’t really sit too well with me. But I could eat an endless supply of chocolate digestives.

What is the last thing you bought?

I last bought a wooden dolls bunk bed for my daughter, from the charity shop. She’s not stopped playing with it since so it was money well spent.

Favourite book of all time?

Oh that’s a toughie. I don’t think I could pick one, there’s a lot of books I love. I did really enjoyed all the Dan Brown books though.

Favourite colour?

I don’t think I really have a favourite colour. There isn’t one in particular that I go for the most.

Have you ever been out of the country?

Yes, several times. I’ve visited a few countries. My favourite being Mexico.

How many siblings do you have?

I have a brother, a step-brother and a step-sister. They’re all younger than me.

When was the last time you cried?

Hmmm, probably the other week. I’m always crying.

Favourite movie?

I have loads of favourites, I don’t think I could ever pick one. There are just too many to pick from. I enjoy a lot of films by Tim Burton though. So maybe I just have a favourite director?

How tall are you?

Not very, I’m only 5ft 2″. So not very tall at all. Jeans are a right struggle.

Can you cook?

Yes, quite a few things. Having children meant I had to learn how to cook a lot of food from scratch. I’m not very good at it, but it’s something I enjoy.

Are you single?

Nope, I’m engaged to a lovely guy. We’ve been together over 4 years now, a milestone for us!

Lucky number?

Doubt I have a lucky number. If I do, then I haven’t found it yet.

Have you got any tattoos?

I do! I have 3, one on my foot of a lotus flower. One on my chest of a mother and baby, and another on my hip of Hello Kitty dressed as a vampire.

Do you believe in ghosts?

I think I do and I’m almost certain that I have had a ghostly experience. But I’m so skeptical because if they were real, how does no one have real footage with today’s technology.

Do you believe in aliens?

I believe that there is life on other planets, whether that be microscopic organisms or single cell bactieria. But not little green men flying spaceships.

Do you drink alcohol?

I’m a mum, of course I do. I’d be a mess if I didn’t. Love me a bottle of chardonnay.

Where are you from?

West Midlands, UK. I have lived here all my life.

When is your birthday?

24th November, it’s one for your diary.

What really makes you angry?

Noisy eaters, liars, cheats, anyone that intentionally hurts a child. They all make my blood boil!

Who is your favourite band?

Ohhh, hmmm. Maybe Bring Me the Horizon. It’s hard to pick one, but they come to mind first and I’ve been a fan since before they became famous.

Do you have a weird habit?

I don’t think I do. I do like to have one foot out of the quilt at night and everything else covered. Does that class as a habit?

There you have it. 25 questions to help you get to know me a little bit better. I hope they weren’t too boring, and I tried to offer more than just one worded answers. I’m not the most exciting person in the world, I know. But there is more to me than you may think.

I’m not going to tag anyone, but if you would like to take part in this tag, so that I can get to know you, then be sure to tag me on Twitter so that I can read your post!

Drug Store Make Up Haul

I love buying new make up, although I’m still getting to grips with how to really apply it. I’ve always been interested in make up and how to properly use them, so YouTube tutorials are my best friend these days. I don’t have much money to splash on myself these days, having 3 children certainly takes that away from me, so I tend to buy a lot of drug store make up and dupes. Expensive make up just isn’t within my budget and I think I would much prefer to splash out on things for my children than for myself.

Drug store make up is the only thing in my price range at the moment, and I bagged some pretty good bargains!

5 Things that Make Me Happy Off Screen

Lately, there hasn’t been a lot of nice things happening. 2017 may have started out okay but it seems to have taken a bit of a whirl. On top of that, postnatal depression and anxiety rule (and ruin) my life so happiness is far from my reach right now. I do have my days though, the days where I am genuinely happy and it’s those moments that I treasure the most. So I’ve tried to compile a list of some of the things that truly make me happy off screen and not technology based.

Technology rules our lives and it's nice to be reminded of what we love off screen.

5 Favourite Sites for Free Stock Photos

When I write a post I always post a photo that fits the subject, but sometimes I just don’t have the props available to take the photo myself so I have to turn to the trusty web and use stock photos. Over the years I have managed to single out some of my favourite sites to get these photos from.

When using stock photos you must be aware of copyright restrictions and whether you can use the photos without attribution. Most of the sites I use are free from copyright restrictions meaning you can copy, modify and distribute without asking for permission. However there are some photos that may require attribution, but the website will warn you of this and explain how and where you can use the particular photo.

There are times when I need to revert to the internet to find a photo to use, so I have put together a list of my favourite sites to get stock photos.

7 Ways to Practise Self-Care

When I became a mum all my me time disappeared. I could no longer spend hours in front of a mirror perfecting my hair and make up. Applying fake tan was out the window and I barely had time to shower, never mind actually brush my hair. I soon ended up in a bit of a rut, my appearance was slacking and I just didn’t do anything for me. Self-care just was not a priority.

I have always lived by the phrase happy mum means happy baby, but this mum wasn’t happy so I knew my babies weren’t going to be at their full happiness. Something needed to change.

Becoming a mum meant skipping out on loving myself, but a happy mum means a happy baby. This is how I practice self-care.
